Dear Parents/Guardians of Students of Year 8 and 9,

We are back to another run of remote learning. I hope we are all taking care of ourselves, looking out for each other and taking all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our families, friends and entire Doveton Community.

We should now be well accustomed to remote learning and are ready to hit the ground running on Monday. Hopefully you picked up the packs and laptops from school this week. If you haven’t yet collected your children’s packs, can you call the office on 0387650111 to make arrangements to collect them?

Compass has been updated to reflect the new timetable for remote learning. We encourage the students to work as closely as possible to this timetable as routine is key and it closely matches the school day. We have added 2 live lessons for English, 2 live lessons for Maths and 1 live lesson for Connections. The students need to be online at these times to attend their classes with their books and pens at hand.

It is imperative that your children complete work for all their classes. Last term we understand that students were getting used to online learning and were just finding their feet. However this term they should be able to focus on getting the work completed to the best of their ability and submitting it on time. All work will be assessed and recorded in their Semester 2 reports so it is to your child’s advantage to complete all their tasks.

Attendance is being marked daily. Students must log into their Connections class on Google Classroom before 10am and mark that they are present. If a student fails to do this, they will be marked absent. We understand that parents may be working and the schedule may not suit, we ask that your child email their Connections teacher to discuss any issues.

During school closure, it is important to maintain communication with your child’s teachers. We will check in to see how your child is doing. This could be in the form of a phone call or an email.
